Gastroscopy is also called as upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. Gastric endoscopy test is a diagnostic procedure used by the physician to inspect the inside of the throat, esophagus, stomach, and upper intestine. Instead the physician will pass a flexible tube called endoscope or gastroscope through the mouth, stomach, and digestive tract. The tube has a tiny video camera mounted on its tip. If necessary, the doctor may take a biopsy (small sample of tissue) or remove small growths of tissue called polyps using the instruments passed inside the gastroscope. The collected samples will be sent to a laboratory for testing.
