Nasal polyps are soft and painless growths on the lining of your nasal passages or sinuses that may block your nasal passages and lead to breathing problems and frequent infections. Caused by chronic inflammation, they hang down like teardrops. They are often associated with asthma, drug sensitivity or allergies. Medications can eliminate the symptoms of nasal polyps but in severe cases, surgery is required.
A small tube with an endoscope is inserted into the nostrils which guide it into sinus cavities. With the help of tiny instruments, polyps and other substances that block your nose are removed and the opening leading to your nasal passages is enlarged. The doctor prescribes nasal sprays and some medications to prevent the recurrence of nasal polyps.
