Rutherford cancer center was established in the year 2017 with a vision to transform cancer care. The first center was opened in South Wales in Newport and in the year 2018, the center becomes the first to treat the patient with high energy proton beam therapy. In 2018, the South wales center was approved by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee (WHSSC) to treat the patients with high energy proton beam therapy. There are various centers under Rutherford cancer care and all the centers are networked to provide treatment for a patient at all centers.
