In order to find the stones, your surgeon will put a cystoscope, a thin, flexible tube with a camera, into your bladder through your urethra. The stones are then fragmented into small pieces by a laser and removed from the bladder using a fluid. Anaesthesia is used during the procedure, either local to numb the area or general to put you to sleep and prevent pain.
The average duration of cystolitholapaxy is between thirty and sixty minutes. After spending time in the recovery area, most patients are able to return home the same day.
