How Much Does Intrauterine Insemination Cost in Jordan?

The estimated cost of an Intrauterine Insemination in Jordan ranges from USD 500 - USD 1500.

Several factors determine the total cost associated with an IUI cycle, including but not limited to: cycle type, medication costs, diagnostic testing, sperm source, number of cycles needed to achieve a successful pregnancy, and the level of expertise of the clinic. The cost of IUI can be significantly increased by using medication for IUI cycles, using donor sperm, repeating cycles, and/or using an advanced Fertility Centre.

Factors Influencing the Cost of Intrauterine Insemination

  • Types of IUI Cycles: Natural cycle IUI procedures usually cost less than medicated and stimulated cycles since those will require more medications and/or follow-up visits, which therefore impacts total costs.
  • Fertility Medications: The cost of medications taken during treatment is highly dependent on the type, dosage, and length of time you are using drug(s) that induce ovulation; this will especially apply to injecting vs. orally taken medications.
  • Diagnostics And Follow-Up: Ultrasound imaging, blood tests, and hormonal monitoring will be required before and during your cycle, and these procedures will contribute to the overall cost.
  • Sperm Source: The cost to use partner sperm is less than that of purchasing and using sperm from a sperm bank; this cost can add up depending on how many times you need to use prepared sperm and the amount of storage space you need to secure your frozen supply.
  • Number of IUI Cycles: For many women, it takes an average of multiple cycles to conceive; therefore, your total costs will add up with each additional cycle.
  • Medical Facility: While it may seem more expensive to treat at a highly regarded fertility centre and work with experienced reproductive specialists, the additional expense may be offset by increased success rates.

Intrauterine insemination (IUI), also known as artificial insemination, is a procedure designed to treat infertility by enhancing the chances of pregnancy. During IUI, specially prepared sperm are placed directly into the uterus, where a baby develops.

The procedure is timed to coincide with ovulation, the release of one or more eggs from the ovaries. The goal is for the sperm and egg to meet in the fallopian tube, which connects the uterus to the ovaries, leading to fertilization and, subsequently, pregnancy.

IUI can be synchronized with a person's natural menstrual cycle, during which one of the two ovaries releases an egg. Alternatively, fertility medications may be used in conjunction with IUI to stimulate the ovaries to produce eggs. The specific approach depends on the underlying causes of infertility.

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) can be beneficial for:

  • Couples experience infertility as a result of medical conditions like endometriosis, low sperm count, or compromised sperm quality.
  • Couples with unexplained infertility.
  • Same-sex female couples using donor sperm.
  • Unmarried women seeking to begin a family using donor sperm.
  • IUI is a widely used treatment option because it is minimally invasive and more affordable than in vitro fertilization (IVF). Additionally, it can be conveniently performed in our clinic.

Types

Following are the different types of IUI:

  • Intracervical insemination
  • Intrauterine tuboperitoneal insemination
  • Intratubal insemination (also called Fallopian tube sperm perfusion)

Frequently Asked Questions

The best hospital in Jordan is:
  • Arab Medical Center
  • IUI does not require much recovery time, as most women return to normal after the procedure, with mild cramping or spotting still occurring. Follow-up appointments post IUI usually include a pregnancy test, as well as hormone support, if required, according to both the treatment protocol and individual response.

    Additional expenses may include:
  • Pre-operative tests (X-ray, MRI, blood work)
  • Anaesthesia fees
  • Post-surgery medications
  • Physiotherapy sessions
  • Follow-up consultations
  • If you're an international patient, costs for travel, accommodation, meals, and airport transfers.

Amman is Jordan's primary hub for complex surgery and medical travel, with the largest concentration of JCI-accredited hospitals and surgeons with international training. Other areas offer limited services.

    Reasons why patients choose Jordan:
  • JCI-accredited modern Hospitals, with costs that are competitive with those in other countries
  • Well-organised packages for international medical travel.
  • High-quality care from fellowship-trained surgeons with extensive experience.
  • Modern hospitals accredited by the JCI offer a range of advanced arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques.
  • Short waiting times for consultations with specialists, for imaging studies, and for surgery.
  • Strong rehabilitation service with structured physiotherapy programs.
  • The success rate of IUI is generally between 10 and 20 per cent per cycle; however, success rates may vary significantly based upon the woman's age, the cause of infertility and whether medication is used during the cycling process. If using medication, success rates may increase over the course of 3-4 cycles with the cumulative success rate around 40%. The younger a woman is (<35 years old), the higher success rate she will likely experience (13%) compared to older women’s (<40 years old) lower rate of success (approximately 5-9%). Additionally, IUI is most effective for mild male factor infertility, unexplained infertility, and mild endometriosis and is not effective in the presence of blocked Fallopian tubes.

IUI is an assisted reproduction procedure that places prepped sperm into the uterine cavity to help improve the possibility of conception.

Most couples will conceive within 3-6 attempts; however, the number of cycles needed will depend on the couple's age and other fertility issues.

IUI generally does not involve pain; there may be some mild discomfort during the procedure, similar to that of a regular gynecological exam.

A complete IUI cycle typically is 2-4 weeks; monitoring will be done during the menstrual cycle, with ovulation being monitored and sperm inseminated into the uterus.
