How Much Does Intrauterine Insemination Cost in Vietnam?

The cost of Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) in Vietnam typically ranges between USD 300 - USD 800.

The final cost may vary depending on whether natural or stimulated cycles are used, the number of monitoring visits, medications required, and the fertility clinic chosen.

Factors Influencing the Cost of Intrauterine Insemination

  • Type of IUI Cycle: IUI can be performed in a natural cycle or with ovulation stimulation medications. Stimulated cycles usually cost more due to medication and monitoring requirements.

Intrauterine insemination (IUI), also known as artificial insemination, is a procedure designed to treat infertility by enhancing the chances of pregnancy. During IUI, specially prepared sperm are placed directly into the uterus, where a baby develops.

The procedure is timed to coincide with ovulation, the release of one or more eggs from the ovaries. The goal is for the sperm and egg to meet in the fallopian tube, which connects the uterus to the ovaries, leading to fertilization and, subsequently, pregnancy.

IUI can be synchronized with a person's natural menstrual cycle, during which one of the two ovaries releases an egg. Alternatively, fertility medications may be used in conjunction with IUI to stimulate the ovaries to produce eggs. The specific approach depends on the underlying causes of infertility.

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) can be beneficial for:

  • Couples experience infertility as a result of medical conditions like endometriosis, low sperm count, or compromised sperm quality.
  • Couples with unexplained infertility.
  • Same-sex female couples using donor sperm.
  • Unmarried women seeking to begin a family using donor sperm.
  • IUI is a widely used treatment option because it is minimally invasive and more affordable than in vitro fertilization (IVF). Additionally, it can be conveniently performed in our clinic.

Types

Following are the different types of IUI:

  • Intracervical insemination
  • Intrauterine tuboperitoneal insemination
  • Intratubal insemination (also called Fallopian tube sperm perfusion)

Frequently Asked Questions

IUI is suitable for couples with unexplained infertility, mild sperm abnormalities, ovulation disorders such as PCOS, cervical mucus problems, and for women using donor sperm.

Around the time of ovulation, prepared sperm are inserted directly into the uterus using a thin catheter. The procedure is quick and painless, usually completed within a few minutes.

IUI is a safe and low-risk procedure. Minor side effects may include mild cramping or spotting. The risk of multiple pregnancy exists if ovulation-stimulating medications are used.

Success rates vary depending on age, fertility diagnosis, and treatment protocol. On average, 10-20% success per cycle is expected, with higher rates in younger women and those with minimal fertility issues.

Most fertility specialists recommend 3-6 IUI cycles before considering advanced treatments like IVF, depending on individual response.

IUI is widely available in fertility centres in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, including international hospitals and specialised reproductive medicine clinics.

Additional expenses may include fertility medications, hormone blood tests, donor sperm, repeat ultrasounds, follow-up consultations, travel, and accommodation for international patients.

Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are the preferred cities due to their advanced fertility clinics, experienced reproductive endocrinologists, and modern laboratories.
