About Jaslok Hospital & Research Center

  • Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre is one of India’s oldest super-speciality, tertiary care private trust hospitals, conceptualised in the late 1960s when large private hospitals were rare in the country.
  • The institution was endowed in Mumbai by philanthropist Seth Lokoomal Chanrai, who entrusted Dr Shantilal Mehta with establishing a centrally located, ultra-modern medical centre providing advanced healthcare to people of all races and creeds.
  • Located at Dr G. Deshmukh Marg, Peddar Road, South Mumbai, overlooking the Arabian Sea, the hospital was inaugurated on 6 July 1973 by the former Prime Minister of India, Mrs Indira Gandhi.
  • The name Jaslok is derived from the names of Seth Lokoomal Chanrai and his wife, Smt. Jasotibai.
