Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre is one of India’s oldest super-speciality, tertiary care private trust hospitals, conceptualised in the late 1960s when large private hospitals were rare in the country.
The institution was endowed in Mumbai by philanthropist Seth Lokoomal Chanrai, who entrusted Dr Shantilal Mehta with establishing a centrally located, ultra-modern medical centre providing advanced healthcare to people of all races and creeds.

The name Jaslok is derived from the names of Seth Lokoomal Chanrai and his wife, Smt. Jasotibai.
