The hospital that is dedicated solely to pediatrics (children) has 300 beds that are solely used for the treatment of children with cancer. It opened in 2007, fully funded by public donations. Children receive treatment regardless of their race or age and do not have to pay any fees.
The hospital provides all forms of cancer treatment, including but not limited to chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery, stem cell transplants, rehabilitation, palliative care, and support programs for children and their families.
The hospital uses state-of-the-art technology for all patient data collection and management, allowing for more efficient processing of patient care, research, and administrative activities.
In addition to providing all aspects of family-centred long-term cancer care for children, the hospital offers additional support services, including psychosocial counselling, physical rehabilitation, and an in-house school for patients who require educational assistance during their treatment.
The hospital has made tremendous strides in improving survival rates in children diagnosed with cancer, with the average total survival rate of over 71%, and the long-term projection of having a global survival rate for children with cancer.
