What is a Norwood Procedure, and how does it work?

The Norwood Procedure is a complex surgical procedure performed on newborns with a severe congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). It is the first in a series of three heart surgeries known as the Norwood Series. The goal of these surgeries is to reconstruct the underdeveloped left side of the heart.
