Radical cystectomy is done to treat muscle-invasive or high-risk bladder cancer when other treatments are not effective. It helps remove cancer completely, prevent its spread, and improve long-term survival.

The success rate of radical cystectomy is generally high, especially when performed for appropriately selected patients with muscle-invasive or high-risk bladder cancer. In experienced centers, the procedure is effective in achieving long-term cancer control and survival, with outcomes improving when combined with proper follow-up and, when indicated, chemotherapy. Advances in surgical techniques and post-operative care have also reduced complication rates, making radical cystectomy a reliable and well-established treatment option.
