Cystolitholapaxy is done to break up and remove bladder stones, relieve pain, improve urine flow, and prevent urinary tract complications.

The stones are then fragmented into small pieces by a laser and removed from the bladder using a fluid. Anaesthesia is used during the procedure, either local to numb the area or general to put you to sleep and prevent pain.
The average duration of cystolitholapaxy is between thirty and sixty minutes. After spending time in the recovery area, most patients are able to return home the same day.
