Patient Introduction and Medical Condition

Mrs Asmina was in terrible pain and in desperate need of medical and surgical help when her nephew in Dubai, Mr Taseer, contacted MediGence. Taseer shared all the medical reports for her aunt with the Patient Care team at MediGence. The local doctors advised her a very rare procedure called atlantoaxial surgery, which is conducted by only a handful of neurosurgeons in India.

The reports provided were internally reviewed and then shared with some of the renowned neurosurgery specialists who had experience in conducting this rare procedure. At that time, Mrs Asmina has completely unstable neck and her overall quality of life was terribly affected.

Treatment Decision

The Patient Care team, at MediGence quickly put up a treatment plan for Mrs Asmina. Out of the given options, Taseer ended up selecting BLK Super Speciality Hospital in Delhi for the treatment under Dr Anil Kumar Kansal. The Patient Care Team gave a heads up to the hospital and Dr Kansal’s team about the criticality of the case and the condition of the patient.

Mrs Asmina travelled to Delhi on December 10th and on the same day, she was admitted to the hospital. All the necessary investigations were planned on the same day and the atlantoaxial surgery was successfully conducted on December 12th. During the surgery, the C1 C2 level (atlantoaxial joint) was successfully fixed.

Condition After Discharge

Within a couple of days of the surgery, Mrs Asmina was discharged from the hospital. She was completely relieved of the pain and neck immobility after the surgery, which, in turn, improved her quality of life.

She remained in Delhi for a week after the surgery for follow-up with Dr Kansal, after which she was given the go-ahead to return to Kashmir.

The team at MediGence thanks Dr Kansal and his team, who were able to conduct this rare and complicated surgery successfully. We wish Mrs Asmina a great and healthy life ahead.
