For Adam, 44, living in the U.S., he always thought of himself as a true foodie. Adam found pleasure in trying new foods from other cultures, eating large portions with family or friends, and enjoying food while socialising. As time went on, the joy of eating turned into discomfort from chronic digestive problems, bloating after meals, and a general unease after eating. At first, he managed the symptoms. In his opinion, however, he knew something wasn't quite right, so it was time to find out what was going on by seeing a doctor.
After he explained his symptoms to his doctor, they recommended that he have a colonoscopy in order to determine whether there were any gastrointestinal issues. While he was nervous about having a colonoscopy done, he knew it was the only way to get answers regarding why eating food, a passion of his, had become such a source of stress rather than enjoyment.
Adam got in contact with MediGence and, through it, Dr. Vishwas. He reviewed each of Adam's symptoms and his medical history. He received reassurance from the outset, as his concerns were addressed and explained patiently, and the need for an accurate evaluation was clearly communicated. Dr. Vishwas coordinated his medical journey by creating a well-defined path with clear expectations every step of the way. This made him confident in his decision-making.
Vietnam was the destination chosen for Adam's medical care, with multiple consultations with Dr. Vayu at the Vinmec Hospital. His doctors arranged all appointments and ensured he was clear about what to expect throughout the surgical process, including the procedural logistics. As a result of their efficient organisation, His focus could remain strictly on his health rather than on the logistics of organising the various appointments for the different procedures. Additionally, Adamâs evaluations were completed in less than two days from his arrival.
Adam travelled to Vietnam on January 3rd 2026. After the evaluations, colonoscopy and additional testing were performed; the results provided Adam with a clear diagnosis of an active Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. The medical team explained to him that it was a common bacterial infection associated with inflammation of the gastric lining. After Adam was able to receive a definitive diagnosis for the symptoms that had plagued him for months, he could expect a treatment plan with an anticipated recovery timeframe.
Adam needed an outpatient antibiotic therapy (medication only) to treat the infection; no hospital stay was needed. He was able to recover at home and maintain his lifestyle as he did prior to the illness. It was important to the medical staff that he understood the medications, when to take them, and the importance of completing the entire course. Shortly after initiating treatment, he began to experience improvement: his appetite returned, and food no longer caused discomfort. He spent 1 day in the hospital and a total of 4 days in the country.
As Adam's treatment continued to progress, he felt like a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He was now able to eat foods he had previously avoided due to bloating-related discomfort, and the anticipation of eating had returned. Adam had always enjoyed food. He often reflected on how something as simple as being properly diagnosed and treated promptly led to his regaining a large portion of his happiness.
