Sonia was a 34-year-old professional from Ireland. She frequently had to balance various responsibilities, such as work and her active lifestyle. However, over time, she developed significant pelvic and abdominal pain that began to affect her life.
Initially, the pain would be infrequent, but over time it turned into constant pain that challenged her energy, concentration and peace of mind. As many women do, Sonia attempted to push through this challenge, hoping that with time, the pain would lessen. Eventually, she realised that something was wrong with her body and that she needed to find help.
Sonia's initial symptoms were relatively minor, consisting primarily of dull and intermittent abdominal and pelvic pain, which later became more noticeable. She would feel significant amounts of weight on her abdomen each time she performed day-to-day tasks, and she felt that the amount of uncertainty she had about the source of her pain was having a significant effect on her emotional well-being.
Sonia wanted to learn about and heal the root cause rather than impose medication to manage a condition that didnât seem to be improving. So, she continued to look for solutions and, through a direct connection, found MediGence, and through it, Dr Vishwas, who demonstrated a very thorough and caring manner during their first conversation. He encouraged Sonia to consider her symptoms holistically and emphasised the importance of a proper evaluation by a gynecologist, particularly in young women who experience ongoing pelvic pain.
When Sonia provided information about her history and symptoms, it was clear that a specialised consultation with a gynecologist with advanced diagnostic capabilities would be advantageous. Sonia was briefed on possible treatment options outside of Ireland and eventually decided to seek treatment in Turkey.
Sonia travelled to Turkey on December 1st 2025. Her consultation took place at Memorial Hospital, a well-recognised provider of womenâs health services with an excellent reputation for delivering comprehensive care.
At Memorial Hospital, Dr Emre conducted a thoughtful assessment of Sonia's case with great attention to detail. Dr Emre obtained as much information from Sonia as he could on the history of her symptoms, menstrual history and previous assessments. Rather than dismissing her symptoms as generally accepted or "regular" pain, he recognised how the pain was affecting her quality of life and why it was important to do an assessment of her uterine lining (the inside of the uterus) and general reproductive health.
A thorough assessment was conducted, which included several different types of imaging and diagnostic tests designed to assess her uterus and pelvis. The results of these tests provided evidence of an issue with her uterine lining, which was consistent with Sonia's previous report of ongoing pain. To Sonia, it was a relief to learn the cause of her pain, and it confirmed that her pain had not been imaginary or unimportant.
After completing the assessment, Dr Emre thoroughly reviewed all available treatment options for Sonia. Sonia appreciated how well he explained each option in detail, including a description of the condition and the recommended management plan. The focus was on providing her with medical treatment for her uterine lining issue, while providing her with long-term gynecological care. Knowing her treatment was based on an accurate diagnosis helped Sonia feel more at ease.
Today, Sonia feels grateful to have a diagnosis, a treatment plan, and a means to access expert assistance as needed. Her journey has been marked by travel and uncertainty, but has ultimately provided her with clarity, relief, and renewed confidence in her health care decisions. Sonia maintains regular follow-up visits and remains highly engaged in her overall health and well-being.
Soniaâs story is a powerful reminder that you should never ignore persistent pelvic and/or abdominal pain, and by looking for a gynecological specialist for evaluation and trusting the specialists for advice, you can change uncertainty to understanding.
