From Instability to Strength: Michael's ACL Revision Surgery Experience

Michael Fraser Green, a 32-year-old from United Kingdom, had always been the kind of person who refused to slow down. Active, determined, and young, he expected his body to keep up with his ambitions. But persistent knee pain had other plans.

Despite having undergone a prior ACL reconstruction, Michael continued to suffer. The pain never truly left. His knee felt unstable, stiff, and swollen, a constant reminder that something was still wrong. Simple movements that others took for granted had become sources of anxiety and discomfort. For a young man in his early thirties, this was not just a physical limitation. It was a frustration that touched every corner of his daily life.

Searching for a Real Solution

Michael had already been through surgery once. He knew the process and what it felt like to hope for recovery. But this time, he needed more than hope; he needed the right answer.

After connecting with a former patient who had found success through MediGence, Michael reached out on 28th February 2026. From the very first conversation, he was in capable hands. His dedicated Patient Advisor, Dr Vishwas Kaushik, took the time to carefully review his history, understand the full picture of his condition, and guide him through the options available.

Dr Vishwas's approach was never rushed. Every concern Michael raised, about the diagnosis, the procedure, the recovery timeline, and the logistics of travelling abroad, was addressed with patience and clarity. For Michael and his family, this personalised attention made an already difficult decision feel far more manageable.

Choosing India, Choosing Excellence

Based on a thorough evaluation, India was recommended as the destination for Michael's treatment, a country with world-class orthopaedic expertise and internationally accredited hospitals offering advanced joint care at a fraction of the cost in Europe.

MediGence coordinated every detail, and Michael chose BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital in India, a premier institution known for complex musculoskeletal procedures. His case was placed in the hands of Dr Ishwar Bohra, a highly experienced orthopaedic specialist.

After a comprehensive initial assessment, Dr Bohra identified the root of Michael's ongoing struggle. Despite the previous ACL repair, underlying cartilage damage and joint alignment issues had been left unaddressed, and they were the true source of his instability and pain.

A Staged Treatment Plan Built for Long-Term Recovery

Dr Bohra recommended a carefully planned, two-stage treatment approach:

  • Stage One involved an arthroscopic evaluation of the knee joint and harvesting of cartilage tissue for future use.
  • Stage Two, scheduled four to five weeks later, consisted of cartilage implantation combined with a Tibial Tubercle Osteotomy, a procedure designed to realign the joint, restore stability, and improve long-term function.

The overall treatment pathway was estimated at two to three months, a timeline Michael accepted willingly because, for the first time, he felt confident that the problem was being addressed at its source rather than managed around it.

Michael travelled to India on 29th January 2026, spending 14 days in the country, including 4 days in the hospital. MediGence arranged seamless airport transfers, ensuring his arrival and movement were completely stress-free from the moment he landed.

A Meaningful Improvement

The results of the treatment were encouraging. Michael's walking improved noticeably, a tangible sign that the staged approach was working as intended. The instability that had defined his daily experience began to give way to something he had not felt in a long time: confidence in his own movement.

His family, who had supported him through every step of this journey, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Dr Vishwas for his unwavering guidance and for ensuring that Michael received not just a second opinion, but the right one.

More Than a Medical Trip

What made Michael's experience with MediGence meaningful was not only the quality of the medical care but also the sense that someone was genuinely invested in his outcome. From the first point of contact to the moment he boarded his flight home, every detail was handled with care.

For a patient who had already undergone one surgery and was still struggling, that reassurance was invaluable.

Michael's Story Is Still Being Written

The full recovery from a staged orthopaedic procedure takes time, patience, and commitment, and Michael has shown all three. His journey is a testament to what becomes possible when a patient refuses to accept incomplete answers and finds a team willing to look deeper.

MediGence is proud to have been part of that journey, and to have connected Michael with the expertise, care, and support he needed to move forward, one step at a time.
