Johnpaul Curtis Owu, 34, from Ghana had an accident and reported a brachial plexus injury on his left arm which damaged his nerves. He was unable to move his hand and experienced much pain. Traumatic brachial plexus injuries may occur during motor vehicle, bike, and ATV accidents. A brachial plexus is a group of nerves, which transmits signals from the central nervous system to the arm, shoulder, and hand.
Some of Johnpaul's brachial plexus nerves had torn away, leading to the complete separation from the spinal cord. This is the most severe type of nerve injury that can result in a lack of movement, sensation, as well as function in the affected hand. He decided to travel to India for treatment. Mr. Johnpaul searched for a health consultant on the internet, and he found MediGence.
He posted his query on their website that he needed a good doctor to discuss his problem. Johnpaul received a call from one of the case managers from MediGence to seek information about his condition. The case manager asked him to share all his details and medical reports. Upon receiving the reports, MediGence did a thorough analysis of his medical history and provided him multiple options in India for his treatment. Mr. Johnpaul chose Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in Delhi, India which is one the best hospitals in India for patients looking for Brachial Plexus Surgery.
Among a list of best doctors at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Mr. Johnpaul decided to consult with Dr. Rajesh Watts. Dr. Rajesh is one of the finest plastic surgeons in India and has experience of 14 years in several areas, including abdominoplasty, Liposuction, mentoplasty, cosmetic surgery, tummy tuck, cosmetic rhinoplasty, and hair transplant. Immediately after Mr. Johnpaul decided to visit India, the MediGence team started working on his visa application. The team arranged the Visa Invitation Letter from Indraprastha Apollo Hospital. He received the visa within 72 hours. Also, MediGence shared a few stay options with Mr. Johnpaul and he chose the hotel as per his budget.
Mr. Johnpaul traveled to India on November 24, 2020, with his brother. He was received at the airport by MediGence Team and all accommodation arrangements were done by the team. The case manager ensured that the patient was provided with the best facilities at the hotel. MediGence took the patient to the hospital for consultation with Dr. Rajesh. Mr. Johnpaulâs appointment with Dr. Rajesh was pre-booked. Mr. Johnpaul was directly admitted to the hospital. Completing all medical examinations, the doctor told Mr. Johnpaul to get a few diagnostic tests done to know his health status.
The test report was analyzed by the doctor and suggested that Mr. Johnpaul would have to undergo brachial plexus surgery. The doctor prescribed some medications and gave the date for the surgery. The MediGence team coordinated with the hospital and doctors for all the requirements of the surgery. The surgery was successfully performed without any major complications. Mr. Johnpaul said he could not believe the surgery was done so easily without causing much pain. He stayed in the hospital for 3 days and in India for 14 days.
After mandatory care and rehabilitation, Mr. Johnpaul was discharged from the hospital. Dr. Rajesh apprised him of all the guidelines and precautionary measures to be strictly followed for a speedy recovery. Mr. Johnpaul was told to follow a rehabilitation plan for the next few months after which he could lead a normal life. His rehabilitation was carried out by a close aide during his stay at the hotel.
Mr. Johnpaul was extremely satisfied with his overall experience. They were thankful to Dr. Rajesh for his excellent treatment and the care and guidance he provided after the procedure. Mr. Johnpaul especially appreciated MediGence for coordinating their entire treatment journey in such a good way that it addressed all worries they had linked with their medical travel overseas. He is much satisfied with the treating doctor and the surgery outcome. He is too grateful to his treating surgeon Dr. Rajesh Watts for the counseling and consultations before surgery.
He also thanked MediGence who helped him from the very beginning, from finding the right doctor, arranging his consultations, managing hospitals, and airport transfers. As per Mr. Johnpaul, Medigence is the right option for every patient traveling across the world for treatment. Mr. Johnpaul got back to Ghana after he recovered completely. MediGence wishes Mr. Johnpaul a happy and healthy future ahead!
