Artur, a 34-year-old man from Kazakhstan, had been leading an active lifestyle before chronic fatigue, swelling and nausea effectively changed his day-to-day living. Symptoms started off seemingly small but increased in severity to the point where he gave way to the decline in his quality of life and could no longer ignore what his body had been trying to tell him. His regular family doctor ran some tests on him, only to break the disturbing news that his kidneys were no longer functioning and he required dialysis urgently.
Recognising the seriousness of the matter and considering the doctor's advice for immediate, effective treatment, Artur and his family began to search for more sophisticated options than were available in his home country. They discovered a medical travel coordination platform from which they connected directly to Dr. Vishwas, who reviewed articulated Artur's reports to him as quickly as possible. After a complete review of the situation, Dr. Vishwas recommended that Artur be treated by dialysis in Dubai.
With the help of the medical travel team, Artur's complete journey was arranged. His appointment was planned at Aster Hospital in Dubai with Dr. Goel, a well-regarded nephrologist. The travel arrangements included the travel documents along with the visa as well as the airport pickup to make it so Artur could simply concern himself with treatment. February 15, 2025, was targeted for the procedure, and one day was planned for the treatment because dialysis was an outpatient treatment.
Artur arrived in Dubai on the evening of February 14, 2025. In the morning, he was welcomed at Aster Hospital. He was tired, but throughout the greeting, he watched the office staff approach each interaction professionally and with kindness. The pre-treatment assessment was very insightful and thorough including the bloodwork, a check-up for vitals, and a physical examination. Dr. Goel came out to personally see Artur explaining everything regarding the entire process of dialysis, its intent, and how it was going to help him feel a lot better.
On February 15, Artur's dialysis treatment was done. He was connected to the dialysis machine while it removed the waste products and excess fluid from his blood because his kidneys could no longer do it for him. Artur was connected for a few hours. During that time, he was well monitored and had his comfort taken into consideration. What struck Artur most was not the procedure (which was unremarkable, smooth, and complication-free) but rather how much care, attention, and consideration was placed on Artur's comfort and emotional wellbeing during the procedure.
While dialysis is not a definitive cure, Artur could see an immediate improvement in his condition post-treatment. In the hours after, he felt a boost in energy, the swelling in his extremities began to resolve, and overall, he felt physically lighter and certainly emotionally more hopeful.
To Artur, the relief was more than a feeling of being lighter physically (and emotionally); it was the first time in months that he felt that he could put himself back in normal life, or even begin to plan for the future. Artur stayed in Dubai one last time for one more night to rest before departing for Kazakhstan and home, and the next day he returned to his Kazakhstan home.
