Hermine de la Giraudiere, a 44-year-old French woman, had been experiencing long-standing pain and distress for some time due to serious problems in her genital area. They eventually transformed from being mild discomfort to being extremely painful when she urinates, and are also very painful during sexual intercourse. This situation has affected her physical health, but not only physically, because the pressure of having repeated symptoms after local treatment left her in need of a permanent solution.
Once Hermine realised her problem and that it wouldn't get better with local treatment, she sought out specialist medical attention overseas. She found MediGence and, through a direct lead, established contact with her case manager, Dr Vishwas, who reviewed her medical history and overall symptomatology before making recommendations for a country, hospital, and physician. Hermine was relieved by Dr. Vishwas as he demonstrated great compassion and clarity when speaking to her about her diagnosis, treatment plan options and next steps. As well, he discussed possible reasons why she had her current condition and suggested proceeding with further evaluation at a leading hospital that focuses on all aspects of women's health issues.
Hermine has been travelling through Vietnam and visiting Vinmec Hospital, one of the most reputable medical institutions. It has a modern infrastructure and highly-skilled specialists. Hermine had her first visit with Dr. Phupar, a gynecologist specialist who is an expert in diagnosing and treating complex urinary and gynecological issues. Hermine was very comfortable with her entire experience at Vinmec, owing to an organised facility, efficient coordination, professional support, and the fact that she was an international patient receiving medical care in a different country.
Hermine was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection (UTI) that was causing her severe symptoms by Dr. Phupar. The diagnosis was a significant relief to Hermine as she finally understood the cause of her discomfort. The physician's treatment plan was clear-cut, evidence-based, and to be followed as an outpatient. This included a course of antibiotics and supportive medications tailored to her, along with specific instructions, such as drinking plenty of water, practising good hygiene, and taking preventive measures to reduce the risk of recurrence.
Hermine did exceptionally well with her treatment. Within a few days, she observed a marked reduction in pain and discomfort. Activities that had previously made her uncomfortable began to feel normal again, and her confidence flourished.
Management of her surgery on an outpatient basis allowed her to recover smoothly without having to stay in the hospital for long periods of time, allowing for a very convenient and stress-free recovery process. Frequent follow-ups also assured Hermine that the infection was progressing as anticipated; she felt supported throughout her recovery.
Hermine is now able to return to her daily life without constant pain and discomfort following her surgery. She expresses an immense amount of gratitude to Dr. Vishwas for his assistance in coordinating care for her so that she could access appropriate care. She is also very grateful to Dr. Phupar and the Vinmec Hospital staff for their professional and compassionate care. Hermine's experience is a prime example of how timely guidance, expert consultation, and well-organised medical travel can lead to successful treatment and a return to good health.
