Mr. Waknine's appointment was scheduled for September 27, 2024, and Waknine had completed as much of the pre-travel coordination and documentation as possible before the trip was planned.

When Mr. Waknine met Dr. Emel face-to-face at Istinye Liv Hospital, the first step was a thorough examination of Waknine's face to study the structure using 3D imaging as well as X-rays. The good news was that the initial assessment was more than cosmetic; this was an actual examination. The Procedure and Recovery

Early on September 27, Mr. Waknine was admitted for surgery. Once all of the usual pre-surgical checks were completed and consent forms signed, Waknine was prepared for general anesthesia. The surgery would take several hours and involve multiple components. It was not too complicated, as various bone structures were shaped and bony segments repositioned to achieve symmetry with the use of templates and guides.

The first 48 hours after jaw surgery were as tough as expected. At this point, Mr. Waknine was swollen, sore, and had reduced jaw movement. Still, the nursing staff at the hospital looked after him with compassion, provided hydration, pain relief, and nutrition with a complete liquid diet.

On Day 3, Mr. Waknine was discharged. Dr. Emel saw Waknine once more for a post-operative check-up, reassured him that the recovery process was taking its course, and provided clear aftercare instructions. By Day 5, the swelling had reduced. Waknine was offered more soft foods, encouraged to continue oral hygiene and medicated rinses, and advised to refrain from strenuous activities for a few weeks post-operatively.

Ten days after arriving in Turkey, Mr. Waknine returned to France with a new sense of self. Although subtle swelling remained, the change in definition of his jawline, along with better facial symmetry, could already be observed previously. His lower jaw was more defined, and his facial proportions had achieved a harmony he had always sought.
