Jeran Phiri's Stroke Rehabilitation Journey

Jeran Phiri, a 45-year-old Zambian man, faced a challenging condition after suffering a stroke three years ago. His walking, balance, and coordination were all significantly affected by the stroke. His quality of life suffered as a result of a sudden shift in his life, which made him dependent on others for everyday tasks. Despite trying various therapies locally, Jeran's recovery seemed limited, and he was unable to regain complete independence. It was during an OPD camp organised by MediGence in Zambia in June 2024 that Jeran first learned about the stroke rehabilitation programs available abroad. Pre-Treatment

Mr. Jeran contacted MediGence on June 12, 2024, and was then put in touch with Dr. Vijita, his patient adviser. She helped him with every step of organising his journey and medical care. Following a review of his medical history and a discussion of his symptoms, Dr. Vijita suggested MediRehab, a well-known hospital in India specialising in stroke rehabilitation. Process

When Jeran visited India on August 17, 2024, the MediGence staff welcomed him. Following his initial evaluation at MediRehab, Dr Rahil Abdullah created a stroke rehabilitation program specifically for Jeran's requirements. To assist Jeran in regaining his lost abilities, the program included strength training, balance exercises, and physical therapy. For his 30-day recovery, Jeran worked with a team of knowledgeable physiotherapists and rehabilitation specialists who aimed to enhance his walking ability, balance, and motor abilities. He engaged in daily therapy sessions that comprised muscle-strengthening and coordination-enhancing exercises. Dr. Abdullah closely monitored his development and adjusted the treatment plan as needed. Significant progress was made as a result of Jeran's commitment to his recovery and the expert treatment he received.

Jeran regained over seventy per cent of his functional independence at the program's conclusion. He was able to walk more steadily, improve his balance, and perform his everyday tasks more easily. This development marked a significant shift in his recovery process and gave him fresh hope for the future. Jeran valued the emotional support he received during his stay, in addition to the physical gains. He felt more independent and hopeful upon his return to Zambia.
