Ibrahim Aldada’s Story: Seeking Treatment for a Deviated Nasal Septum in Turkey

The ongoing issues that Ibrahim Aldada, a 43-year-old from Syria, experienced with his nostrils raised alarm bells. What began as a typical case of breathing problems turned out to be a deviated nasal septum, which is a medical condition causing the nasal separator wall to move away from the center. It was then that Ibrahim approached MediGence for help accessing medical services in Turkey.

The Beginning of Ibrahim's Healthcare Journey

Ibrahim contacted MediGence due to issues he was facing with his nose, and the possibility of him having a deviated nasal septum. The primary need that Ibrahim sought addressed was an evaluation and medication rather than surgery. At the time of the consultation, Ibrahim was keen to understand the root cause of the problem and to explore options for conservative management, as advised by an expert.

For a patient with nasal congestion or other breathing difficulties, getting an accurate diagnosis is a huge leap towards effective healing. A person with a deviated septum may experience various symptoms, including nasal blockage, breathing difficulties, and nasal complaints, but these vary from patient to patient. Recognising the need for specialist assessment, MediGence helped facilitate Ibrahim's medical journey to Turkey.

Connecting with Medical Care in Turkey

On January 26, 2026, Ibrahim was scheduled to undergo treatment in Turkey, with Medipole chosen as the hospital. The treatment plan included an evaluation with Dr. Barkin, who was supposed to examine the patient's nose before determining the treatment option.

The referral process focused on his reported concern about a deviated nasal septum and associated nasal problems.

Rather than assuming that surgery was necessary, the approach centred on clinical evaluation first. This was particularly relevant because Ibrahim had specifically sought evaluation and medication. Ibrahim's consultation with Dr. Barkin was an important part of his treatment journey. The purpose of the evaluation was to assess the extent of the nasal problem and understand how the deviated septum was affecting him.

After taking the assessment, it was advised to give medication as part of Ibrahim's treatment plan. Medication may not straighten a deviated septum. Nonetheless, based on the patient's condition, medication can be recommended to help alleviate nasal congestion, inflammation, allergies, and other respiratory ailments that may contribute to breathing problems. Hence, the specialist's recommendation gave Ibrahim the opportunity to undergo conservative treatment and monitor the condition's evolution.

Recovery After Evaluation and Medication for Deviated Nasal Septum

Ibrahim stayed in the country for 7 days and was treated with conservative measures and medication rather than surgical methods, implying that there were no post-surgical limitations customary in the case of septoplasty. Recovery after conservative treatment depends heavily on the severity of nasal congestion, nasal blockage, or breathing difficulties, as well as on the patient's response to the prescribed therapy.

Medication may be very effective at reducing inflammation and congestion, yet it cannot rectify a physiological problem such as nasal septum curvature. Ibrahim was given instructions on how and when to take his medications. As far as nasal hygiene is concerned, drinking enough fluids, avoiding adverse environmental factors, and following doctor's recommendations may contribute to well-being.

If nasal blockages persist or severely impair breathing and affect quality of life, the physician can reassess the situation and propose alternative treatment options, including surgery. Therefore, in Ibrahim's case, the doctor focused on controlling the symptoms of the condition rather than on achieving recovery from surgery. However, because patients experience varying symptoms and respond to treatment differently, the time to complete recovery will also vary. Communication with the physician is important for achieving timely treatment of any new or worsening symptoms.

A Step Toward Better Nasal Health

At 43 years of age, Ibrahim relocated from Syria to Turkey in search of medical evaluation for his nasal issues. MediGence took the necessary steps to connect him with the best doctors to receive treatment.

His therapeutic progression was centred on one simple yet crucial aim, which was to gain insight into his deviated nasal septum and treat his symptoms via a proper, medically supervised method. After the evaluation, medication was recommended, and no surgical treatment was provided during this journey.  Ibrahim's experience reminds us that taking prompt action and seeking a specialist's opinion can be beneficial for ongoing nasal issues that cause discomfort and breathing difficulties.
