Buttocks Lift: Symptoms, Classification, Diagnosis & Recovery

A buttock lift, also known as a belt lipectomy, is a cosmetic procedure used to improve the appearance of the buttocks. It is a popular cosmetic procedure conducted commonly across cosmetic surgery clinics and hospitals located across the world. Buttocks lift is opted by thousands of people each year. This procedure is hugely popular among women who crave for better cosmetic looks.

Before the butt lift procedure, you should have a thorough discussion with your plastic or cosmetic surgeon. During this discussion, you should:

  • Ask about the side effects or risks of the surgery.
  • Tell the surgery if you have any allergies or suffer from any medical condition.
  • Inform the surgeon about the drugs, medications or supplements that you are taking.

Before the surgery, the cosmetic surgeon may examine your general health and physical measurements. He or she will discuss the different buttocks lift options that you have to achieve the desired outcomes. The elasticity and thickness of the skin are also evaluated at this stage.

Different techniques are used to conduct buttocks lift. However, every technique employs the following steps:

  • Creation of an incision at the top of the hips, groin, or at the bottom of the hip cheeks.
  • Removal of the excess skin from the target areas.
  • Tightening of the remaining skin to give a taut look by pulling it up.
  • Liposuction of the butt or the thighs to achieve a contoured look.
  • Suturing and closure of the incisions.

Following the closure of the incisions, a drain may be put in place along with a dressing. A compression garment may be put to tighten the skin and reduce swelling.

It is normal to experience mild to moderate pain and discomfort after the butt lift surgery. The surgeon will prescribe you a few medications that will help relieve pain. Additionally, it is normal to experience swelling and bruising after the surgery.

The results after buttocks lift are visible almost immediately. However, it may take a few months for the results to develop fully. Remember, a buttocks lift is designed to give your hips a toned and sleek look. It does not add volume or change the shape of your buttocks.
