The procedure uses a small incision and specialised magnification to remove the disc fragment affecting the nerve, while preserving as much of the surrounding spinal structure as possible. It may be performed in the lumbar or, less commonly, cervical spine. A comprehensive neurological and imaging assessment is completed before treatment.
