IUI involves processing a sperm sample in the laboratory and placing the concentrated sperm into the uterus using a thin catheter. The procedure is generally timed around ovulation to improve the opportunity for fertilisation. Depending on individual needs, ovulation may be monitored naturally or supported with medication under specialist supervision.
