Dr. Thomas Soh

Qualification and Experience

• Dr. Thomas Soh is a distinguished Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist at OncoCare Cancer Centre and an accredited medical practitioner recognized by the Office of the Public Guardian, authorized to assist patients in creating a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA).
• He formerly worked as a visiting consultant at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and as a consultant in the Department of Hematology-oncology at the National University Hospital (NUH). After earning his degree from the National University of Singapore in 2003, Dr Soh went on to complete his advanced specialty study in medical oncology in 2012 and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2007.
• Dr. Soh has made significant contributions to medical education, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Between 2012 and 2016, he was a core member of the faculty for the Internal Medicine Residency and the Oncology Senior Residency programs at NUH. His dedication to teaching was recognized through the Teaching Excellence Award from the National University Cancer Institute (NCIS) in 2014 and the Best Tutor Award for undergraduate teaching by the University Medical Cluster at NUH in 2015.
• Dedicating to improving healthcare quality, Dr. Soh has led and participated in numerous healthcare improvement projects, earning multiple awards for his involvement in Clinical Practice Improvement Programs at NUH. He played a pivotal role in the Singapore Society of Oncology as the Honorary Secretary of the Executive Committee from 2013 to 2015.

• He has researched how genetic variations influence chemotherapy outcomes in Asian breast cancer patients. His work on colorectal cancer includes studies on cell-free DNA and the effects of chemotherapy drugs like Regorafenib and the FOLFIRI regimen, which consists of irinotecan, 5-fluorouracil, and folinic acid.
• He also served as the lead researcher on multiple gastrointestinal cancer clinical trials across various centers, contributing to over 10 significant publications in prestigious medical and oncology journals. His role as the Principal Investigator encompassed research on circulating tumor cells and clinical trials for hepatocellular carcinoma using drugs like Sorafenib, Lenvatinib, and Cabozantinib. In the realm of colorectal cancer, his studies focused on treatments combining Cetuximab (Erbitux) with the FOLFOX regimen (Oxaliplatin, 5-fluorouracil, and folinic acid), the FOLFIRI regimen, Aflibercept, and Y90 (Therasphere).
