Dr. Tay Miah Hiang

Qualification and Experience

Dr. Tay Miah Hiang, a Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist at OncoCare and former consultant at the National Cancer Centre Singapore’s Department of Medical Oncology, served as the Chairperson of Patient Education & Patient Survivorship programs. From 2006 to 2015, he was on the board of the Singapore Children’s Cancer Foundation and chaired it from 2011 to 2013, now serving as an advisor. Since 2017, Dr. Tay has been a member of the Singapore Medical Council (SMC).

He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1992, later he earned a Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) and a Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom) in 1999.

He was also awarded the Ministry of Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Scholarship, he underwent training at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, Boston USA in 2003. Completing the Cancer Medicine and Hematology course at Harvard Medical School the same year.

A pioneer in kidney cancer treatment in Singapore, Dr. Tay is also a leading authority on prostate cancer, having developed guidelines for its treatment and the management of kidney cancer in Asia at the 2012 Asian Oncology Summit. He specializes in treating testicular, bladder, and gynecological cancers (including ovarian and uterine/cervical cancers), gastrointestinal & hepatobiliary cancers, lung cancer, and brain tumors.

Passionate about medical education, Dr. Tay delivers lectures on cancer management to specialists, general practitioners, medical students, and patients. Recognized for his humanitarian service, he received awards for his efforts in disaster relief after the Afghanistan war and in Sri Lanka. Dr. Tay's medical license number is M06269C (Singapore Medical Council).

Contribution to Medical Science

Dr. Tay Miah's research has been featured in both local and international journals, such as Urology, Cancer, and Annals of Oncology. Additionally, he has authored chapters in various international books, including the Comprehensive Textbook of Genitourinary Oncology (3rd Edition), American Cancer Society’s Complete Guide to Prostate Cancer 2006, and Textbook on Urologic Oncology 2004.
