Dr. Lim Sheow Lei

Qualification and Experience

• Dr. Lim Sheow Lei is a distinguished Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist at OncoCare Cancer Centre, with a clinical focus on treating gynecological cancers, including ovarian, uterine, cervical, and vulvar cancers.
• She started her medical career at Australia's Monash University Medical School, where she earned an honors degree in 1996. Her quest for study in medical oncology led her to the United Kingdom, where she studied under the guidance of numerous distinguished oncologists, including Professor Hani Gabra, a well-known authority on ovarian cancer worldwide. Her dedication and commitment to the field were further solidified when she got her certification in medical oncology from the United Kingdom Postgraduate Medical Education Training Board in 2008.
• Additionally, Dr. Lim was awarded an MD in Medical Science from the prestigious Institute of Cancer Research in London (ICR, UK), acknowledging her significant research in ovarian cancer epigenetics.
• Upon her return to Singapore in 2008, Dr. Lim took up a vital role in the Department of Gynaecological Oncology at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, where she specialized in treating gynecological cancers.
• She also played a pivotal role as the head of the Chemotherapy Centre at KK Hospital. Her leadership extended to her chairing the Singapore Cancer Network (SCAN) Gynaecological Cancer workgroup, where she led the development of the nation's first consensus guidelines for the treatment of ovarian and uterine cancers.
• Apart from her clinical and research endeavors, Dr. Lim has been actively involved in the education of medical students, imparting knowledge and guiding future physicians at DUKE-NUS and the National University Medical School. Her comprehensive expertise, dedication to cancer care, and contributions to medical education make her a respected figure in medical oncology.
• Moreover, In addition to her clinical duties and educational roles, she has actively contributed to the field of cancer research. Serving as the Principal Investigator for several clinical trials, Dr.Lim has explored innovative treatments such as immunotherapy for gynecological cancers. Her collaborative research efforts, particularly in studying the efficacy of intraperitoneal chemotherapy for advanced ovarian cancer, have been recognized and supported by research grants from the Japanese government, fostering international research collaboration with Japanese scientists.
