Dr. Leong Swan Swan

Qualification and Experience

Dr. Leong Swan Swan embarked on her medical journey at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where she not only completed her basic medical studies but also acquired a Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine.

Her academic achievements include earning the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom in 1995. That same year marked the beginning of her specialization in Medical Oncology, a field in which she was honored with an HMDP scholarship in 1997 for specialized training in Thoracic Oncology at Holling’s Cancer Centre under the apprenticeship of Dr. Mark Green.

By 2000, Dr. Leong had further solidified her expertise by obtaining Specialist Accreditation in Medical Oncology and securing certification from the European Society of Oncology (ESMO).

Dr. Leong's professional career has been predominantly centered at the Singapore General Hospital / National Cancer Centre since 1995, where she has demonstrated a profound commitment to cancer care, managing a wide spectrum of cases including breast, colorectal, stomach, lung, head, and neck, and gynecological cancers, in addition to lymphomas and other solid tumors. Before transitioning to private practice, she excelled as a Senior Consultant, overseeing varied tumor types and contributing significantly to multi-disciplinary tumor boards with a notable focus on lung head, and neck cancers.

Her roles extended beyond patient care; she served as a Visiting Consultant at Changi General Hospital, Director of the Ambulatory Treatment Unit at the National Cancer Centre, and Chairperson of the Code Blue Team, showcasing her leadership in both clinical and administrative capacities.

Additionally, She holds memberships in the American Society of Oncology and the Singapore Society of Oncology, and actively contributes to the Bylaws Committee of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC). Moreover, she fulfills the role of auditor for the Society of Geriatric Oncology.

Acknowledged for her proficiency in lung and other cancers, she has served as a reviewer for numerous journals, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Respirology, and the Singapore Medical Journal.
