Presently, Dr. Kalra is the Director, cardiology at Fortis Hospital Mohali. He completed his MBBS in the year 1978 from University of Delhi. At the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, he obtained his MD in medicine in 1982 and DM in cardiology in 1985. Dr. Kalra was also associated with the GB Pant hospital as a Cardiology Professor.

Dr. Kalra has also obtained a Fellowship from the University of Birmingham, Alabama, USA. During his career, he has done more than 40000 surgical interventions related to cardiology.
