Septoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to correct a deviated nasal septum, which is the wall separating the two nasal passages. It may be recommended when septal deviation causes persistent nasal blockage, difficulty breathing, recurrent nosebleeds, or other nasal symptoms. During the procedure, the surgeon carefully reshapes, removes, or repositions portions of cartilage and bone to improve airflow through the nose. A nasal examination and, when needed, imaging are performed before surgery to plan the treatment.
