Cardiac Catheterization allows specialists to examine the internal structures and blood vessels of the heart without requiring open-heart surgery. A catheter is inserted through a blood vessel and guided to the heart under imaging guidance. The procedure can help identify coronary artery blockages, measure pressures within the heart chambers, and assess certain valve or congenital heart abnormalities. If a significant coronary blockage is identified, treatment may sometimes be carried out during the same procedure.
