Blepharoplasty (Eyelids) is a cosmetic surgical procedure intended to rejuvenate the eyelids by excising or repositioning redundant skin, fat or muscle. It can correct drooping upper lids, puffy under-eye bags, and a tired-eye appearance. In more severe sagging cases, Blepharoplasty (Eyelids) can also provide a crucial visual enhancement, enhancing a young, refreshed facial appearance.

Blepharoplasty (Eyelids) is routinely performed as an outpatient procedure, providing viable aesthetic results with little recovery time. After a blepharoplasty, patients often remark on subtle and noticeable improvements in the definition and symmetry of the eyes. Blepharoplasty surgery is personalised to the patient’s individual facial anatomy to achieve a natural, aesthetic outcome that enhances confidence and the overall harmony of the face. The Blepharoplasty (Eyelids) procedure is available at NMC Royal Hospital, Khalifa City in United Arab Emirates.

Information related to Treatment

As with any procedure, there are a few potential risks you should be aware of before making a decision. These risks are as follows:

  • Infection and bleeding
  • Dry, irritated eyes
  • Difficulty closing your eyes and other eyelid problems
  • Noticeable scarring
  • Injury to eye muscles
  • Skin discoloration
  • Follow-up surgery could be required
  • Temporarily blurred vision or, rarely, loss of eyesight

  • For the first 1 to 3 weeks after surgery, the eyelid may be puffy and bruised. The appearance of your eye would improve for another 1 to 3 months.
  • In about 10 days to 2 weeks, most people can return to work. You should avoid driving for one week.

It is also recommended that you be able to fly short-haul flights two weeks after surgery and long-haul flights four to six weeks after surgery.

  • Following surgery, your eyes may appear puffy and bruised. The swelling of your eyelids is worse in the morning and improves as you sit or even walk around during the day.
  • Swelling of the cheekbones and jawline is also possible. This will begin to improve within 2 to 3 weeks after the procedure.
  • During your return trip from the hospital, use dark shades. You may be light-sensitive.
  • Your eyesight may become hazy due to the ointment used during your procedure. This is a one-time occurrence that passes typically within 24 hours.
  • Contact lenses should not be worn for at least two weeks after surgery. You are permitted to wear spectacles.
  • Do not drive till you are taking pain relievers and your vision is clear. Make sure you can drive a car safely and comfortably. This happens typically five to ten days after surgery.
  • During the first 3 to 4 days after surgery, it's critical to get some quiet, tranquil rest.
  • For two weeks or as instructed by your surgeon, rest and sleep with your head up on two to three pillows. This will help to keep the surgical sites from swelling.
