Mentoplasty is a surgical procedure to reshape the chin to produce an aesthetically more pleasing outcome. It can range from chin implantation, where the chin is more pronounced, to chin subtraction, where the chin is too prominent. This surgery aims at enhancing facial aesthetics and propor­tion. A person would undergo mentoplasty because of its various benefits, such as:

The period of recovery for Mentoplasty is as follows:

• Chin Augmentation Recovery: Patients can return to their regular duties within one to two weeks, while there may be residual inflammation and pigmentation for one month after the surgery.
• Chin Reduction Recovery: Recovery time may vary, but patients are usually advised to wait at least 1-2 weeks before returning to work. Stiffness could be observed in some cases, as could a minor soreness – swelling might endure somewhat longer.
• Maximum benefits may not be visible for a few months, as results depend on the patient's overall health, inflammation, and tissue healing.

Some of the alternative treatments for Mentoplasty are as follows:

• Dermal fillers: Temporary fillers may be used in the chin to improve its projection or contouring, but the effect is usually temporary and the fillers will have to be reapplied.
