Dr. Professor John Kelly

• Professor John Kelly is a world-renowned Professor of Uro-Oncology at University College London (UCL).
• He serves as the Clinical Lead for Urology and Robotic Surgery at University College London Hospitals (UCLH).
• He is internationally recognised for his pioneering contributions to robotic surgery and bladder cancer management, combining clinical expertise with cutting-edge research and surgical innovation.
• With over 20 years of experience in radical cystectomy and reconstructive urological surgery, Professor Kelly has been at the forefront of developing advanced robotic techniques for bladder removal and reconstruction, thereby improving patient outcomes, reducing recovery times, and enhancing surgical precision.
• Under his leadership, UCLH has become the largest robotic pelvic cancer centre in the UK, offering state-of-the-art minimally invasive care.
• He also directs the Chitra Sethia Minimal Access Centre, a centre of excellence that trains UK and international surgeons in robotic procedures, fostering the next generation of urology specialists.
• Professor Kelly’s research is focused on novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for bladder and prostate cancer through the Kelly–Feber Laboratory at UCL, supported by Cancer Research UK (CRUK) and the Medical Research Council (MRC).

• Dr John Kelly served as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, part of the University of Cambridge, where he specialised in complex cancer surgery and translational research in uro-oncology.
• He held the position of Senior Lecturer in Uro-Oncology at the University of Cambridge.
• Professor Kelly has performed robotic and open radical cystectomies for over 20 years and continues to lead major national clinical trials in robotic surgery, including the largest UK trial in the field of robotic surgery.
