With 24 years of total services in the Indian Army, out of which 20 years as a surgeon, Dr. Shishir is currently working as Senior Consultant of Spine, Joint Replacement & Orthopaedics at Metro Hospitals & Heart Institute, Noida. In 1987, Dr. Kumar had completed his MBBS from the prestigious Armed Force Medical College located in Pune, and in 1993, he completed his MS in general surgery from Armed Force Medical College, Pune. Dr. Kumar obtained his M.Ch. from the USA in 2007 and also done D.Orth. Dr. Shishir was awarded a fellowship in Trauma surgery.
Dr. Shishir has pioneered in introducing various surgical techniques related to orthopedic surgery in the Indian Army. He was among those who introduced minimally invasive surgery and was the only surgeon at that time who was able to perform Advanced deformity correction surgery in the Indian Army. He has been working in the field of spine surgery for more than 18 years and he was the head at Spinal cord injury center at Military Hospital, Kirkee, Pune. Areas of special interest of Dr. Shishir includes Revision spine surgery, key-hole spine surgery, and endoscopic spine surgery.
