In the year 1980, he was awarded a fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, UK. He has undergone specialized orthopedic training from various hospitals in abroad. He has also undergone Post Graduate Training in General Surgery at Government General Hospital, Chennai. India. He was the SHO in Casualty at West Kent General Hospital, Maidstone, Kent, U.K along with SHO in orthopedics.
