Qualification and Experience

Dr. Soundappan has more than 24 years of clinical experience out of which he has 18 years of experience in looking after the patients suffering from neurological conditions. He is currently the Senior Consultant- neurosurgery at Fortis Malar Hospital, Chennai. Before associating with this hospital, he was associated with Super Specialty Hospital, Chettinad Health City, Kelambakkam, and Senthil Multispecialty Hospital, Erode, Tamil Nadu. In the year 1980, he completed his MBBS from Coimbatore Medical College, Coimbatore. In 1987, Dr. Soundappan did MS (General Surgery) from Stanley Medical College & Hospital, Chennai. Later, he was awarded M. Ch. (Neuro Surgery) by Madras Medical College & General Hospital, Chennai, in the year 1999.

Dr. Soundappan is an expert in performing various types of neurological surgeries including endoscopic discectomies, craniotomy for intracranial tumors, endoscopic pituitary tumor surgery, kyphoplasty for osteoporotic fractures, and percutaneous spinal fixation through the minimally invasive approach. He also has a special interest in Micro Neuro surgeries, Trauma, and Minimally Invasive Brain and Spine surgeries.
