Dr. Nuri Faruk Aykan

Qualification and Experience

Dr. Nuri Faruk Aykan is highly experienced oncologist in Istanbul He has more than 40 years of clinical experience. He is currently at the Department of Medical Oncology, University of Istinye, İstanbul, Turkey as Professor of Medical Oncology. Dr. Aykan has also been associated with various Universities and hospitals in his long career. He had worked at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine, Istanbul University Oncology Institute, and Ondokuzmayıs University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine. He had alo worked abroad at Laboratoire de Culture et de Cynétique Cellulaire, Hotel-Dieu de Paris, Paris, France, and Laboratoire de Génétique Moléculaire des Eucaryotes, Faculté de Médecine de l'Université Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg, France. Dr. Aykan had completed his MD from Ankara University Medical School in the year 1976. Later, in the year 1981, he completed specialization in Internal Medicine from Ankara University Medical School. He completed his specialized training in Medical Oncology from Istanbul University Oncology Institute. Most of the training of Dr. Aykan is done in Istanbul and Paris. He has also been associated with Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH, USA, Institute for Systems Biology (ISB), Seattle, WA, USA, and King's College, Cambridge, UK.

Contribution to Medical Science

Dr. Nuri Faruk Aykan is a well-known oncologist in Istanbul. Apart from clinical arena, he is also active in academic areas. He had written various chapters of different books and published various research articles. He had played an important role in conducting studies such as RADIANT-2, CRYSTAL, and PETACC-1. His area of service includes managing and treating Colorectal cancer, Pancreatic cancer, Neuroendocrine tumors, Gastric cancer, and immunotherapy. He is a member of various organizations such as ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology), ESDO (European Society of Digestive Oncology), and ESMO (European Society for Medical Oncology). In addition to oncology, his area of interest also includes molecular studies.
