It is also for issues related to hemoglobin and red blood cells such as thalassemia, anemia and sickle cell anemia that this doctor can be consulted.

Lymphatic system disorders and blood disorders are the conditions that a Hematologist researches and diagnoses. It is a Hematologist who resolves your issues with blood, bone marrow and lymphatic system either through medical treatment or procedures. The doctors also work in tandem with some other specialists to manage your condition or to interpret the test results for you. Sepsis, reaction to an infection and a genetic blood clotting disorder like Hemophilia are treated by a Hematologist.
The tests required before and during consultation for a Hematologist are as follows:
Prothrombin time and partial thromboplastin time are tests that check you for clotting and bleeding disorders. The three blood cells, their characteristics and numbers are tracked through a test well known as a complete blood count. Blood disorders, bone marrow disorders, some cancers and infections in the bone marrow can be diagnosed and monitored via bone marrow biopsy.
The doctor recommends tests and basis those tests and consultation, and refers you to a Hematologist in case the symptoms and test results suggest a blood disorder or a condition of the bone marrow or lymphatic system.
