• Dr. Sameer Bhate is a highly experienced and successful cardiothoracic surgeon with over 20 years of experience treating difficult and severe heart problems. He is presently the Head of the Department of Adult Cardiac Surgery, where he oversees comprehensive cardiac surgical services that prioritize clinical excellence, patient safety, and innovation.
• Dr. Bhate has successfully performed over 4,000 heart operations, including routine, difficult, and redo procedures. His clinical specialty includes coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, aortic aneurysms, adult congenital heart defects, and severe heart failure that requires mechanical circulatory support.
• He is particularly recognized for his proficiency in redo heart surgeries, heart and lung transplantation, and the use of ventricular assist devices (VADs) and ECMO for critically ill patients. His approach to cardiac care is evidence-based, multidisciplinary, and patient-centered, ensuring optimal outcomes even in high-risk cases.
