Radical Cystectomy may be recommended for appropriately selected patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer or certain high-risk non-muscle-invasive tumors that have not responded adequately to other treatments. Before surgery, patients may undergo cystoscopy, biopsy, CT or MRI imaging, laboratory testing, and other staging investigations. During the procedure, the bladder is removed along with selected surrounding tissues and pelvic lymph nodes when indicated, followed by reconstruction of the urinary pathway.
