Arterial Switch Surgery is primarily performed to treat Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA), a congenital heart defect in which the major arteries leaving the heart are connected to the wrong ventricles. The procedure restores normal blood flow by switching the pulmonary artery and aorta to their appropriate positions and reimplanting the coronary arteries. Comprehensive cardiac evaluation and imaging are generally performed before surgery, followed by intensive monitoring and follow-up care.
