The Bentall Procedure may be considered when disease of the aortic root or ascending aorta occurs together with significant aortic valve damage. The surgeon removes the affected portion of the aorta and replaces it along with the aortic valve using a composite graft. The coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart muscle, are then carefully connected to the graft. Depending on the patient's condition, clinical evaluation may include echocardiography, CT or MRI imaging, and other cardiovascular tests before surgery.
