Ankle Arthroscopy involves using a small fiber-optic camera to view the inside of the ankle joint without requiring a large surgical incision. It can be used for both diagnosis and treatment of selected joint problems, including cartilage injuries, synovitis, loose bodies, scar tissue, and impingement. Surgical instruments can be introduced through additional small portals to remove or repair abnormal tissue. After the procedure, the ankle may require protected weight-bearing, pain management, and rehabilitation depending on the extent of treatment.
