Portal Vein Embolization is generally performed under image guidance using local anaesthesia with sedation or other anaesthetic support when required. A catheter is introduced into the portal venous system, and selected branches are embolized using appropriate materials. Patients are monitored following the procedure for pain, fever, bleeding, infection, changes in liver function, or other complications. Follow-up CT or MRI may be performed to assess liver regeneration and determine whether the planned surgery can proceed.
