Pyeloplasty is a surgical procedure used to treat ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction, a narrowing or blockage where the renal pelvis connects with the ureter. The condition can interfere with the normal drainage of urine from the kidney and may lead to hydronephrosis, recurrent urinary infections, pain, or deterioration of kidney function. During pyeloplasty, the narrowed segment is removed or repaired and the healthy ends are reconnected to create a wider pathway for urine drainage.
