Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) may be recommended for patients with cervical disc herniation, degenerative disc disease, or spinal stenosis causing persistent nerve pain, numbness, weakness, or spinal cord compression. During surgery, the damaged disc is removed through an anterior neck approach, followed by placement of a cage or graft to maintain the disc space. A plate and screws may be used to provide additional stability while fusion develops.
