Transarterial Radioembolization (TARE) is a minimally invasive treatment primarily used for certain liver cancers and tumors that have spread to the liver. During the procedure, tiny radioactive microspheres are delivered through the hepatic artery to the tumor, where they release radiation locally while limiting exposure to surrounding healthy liver tissue. Before treatment, doctors generally perform imaging and other assessments to determine whether TARE is appropriate. Follow-up imaging helps evaluate the treatment response.
