Hepatectomy (Liver Resection) can provide a potentially definitive surgical treatment for appropriately selected patients with resectable liver disease. Treatment planning considers the underlying diagnosis, tumor size and distribution, liver function, presence of cirrhosis or other liver disease, vascular involvement, and the volume of liver expected to remain after surgery. A multidisciplinary liver team may also evaluate whether chemotherapy, ablation, Portal Vein Embolization, or other treatments should be used before or after resection.
