Orchidopexy is performed under appropriate anaesthesia. The surgeon identifies and mobilizes the undescended testicle, carefully preserves its blood supply, brings it into the scrotum, and secures it in a suitable position. In some patients with an intra-abdominal testicle, a staged procedure may be necessary. After surgery, patients are monitored for pain, swelling, bleeding, infection, testicular blood-flow problems, or recurrence of abnormal positioning.
